Mommy Talk

So I haven't blogged in forever--well, a month-and-a-half, which in the blog world is, technically, forever--and leave it to a first-time mommy to be motivated to finally sit down at my computer by poop and pee! We've been to Pine View, Disneyland, Sea World, a myriad of fun fall places, and I have a plethora of darling photos for your viewing enjoyment, but do those make it on my public website yet?? Oh no, it's the poop and pee.

You see, my talented little daughter is potty trained and I want to shout it to the world!!!! I couldn't be prouder, it really is funny how ecstatic I've been lately. I feel like the sun shines a little brighter, colors are a little more vivid, I hear birds chirping..... My poor husband, and mom, and even mother-in-law get a play-by-play every day of how Cecily did with her waste management. I'm sure every one of them would rather not hear about every detail anymore, but they ooh and aww anyway and make me feel like I have the most talented child in the world.

It's really been fun, once she went for the first time, she had it! I had tried a few times before, and the stubborn, smart little thing just said "I don't wanna go potty" and would seriously hold it for hours until it finally came out all over the couch while watching little Einsteins. It was extremely frustrating--she would tease Ryan and I--she'd say "I'm gonna go potty" and make us watch her sit on the little pot, and we'd just wait.....but nothing. Then she'd get off and know she was getting marshlmallows for at least trying. I was trying to be so encouragin, rewarding for even sitting down, but she figured that out way too soon! We had about 3 days like this, spread out between the last month and a half. After this would happen, I'd rebel against staying in the house all day long, and I'd not even try until the next week. I'd finally given up, and planned on just traing her when the baby comes and I'll be home for two straight months and can actually be consistent. But then...

Ryan had the genius idea to get her a "squishy potty" cuz she loves my parents soft toilet seat. So we got a princess one, and it sat in its packaging for about a week. Then last Thursday, I went to change her in the morning and realized we were out of diapers, so I put undies on her. I tried sitting her down to go once or twice and-- nothing, which didn't surprise me, yet I tried a third time, and walked into my room to do my makeup. I heard her little voice: "Mommy I went potty!!" and sure enough, she had!! I freaked out squealing like a little baby, and immediately opened up her prize box. (Now every time she 'goes' she goes straight to the prize box "I wanna prize" even though I'm out of all the cool ones. She's gonna make me broke, but I don't want to pee on her camp fire.) She picked out a Minnie Mouse pez dispenser, and couldn't wait to show it to her friends Kai and Eli. We planned to go over there for a playdate. While we were over there, I tried again with her and she totally went! And it's been great ever since. We've been to both Grandma's houses, the "Jumpy Place" arctic circle, she can go anywhere. And hardly any accidents She even mastered number two that very first day!!!

Ok, I'm done, I swear. No more potty mouth!! The funny thing though, is I know every mother out there is totally understanding my excitement. And there are a few of you that I am pretty sure are a little jealous. It's ok, I would be too.

So...I'm ready for my prize now.. I do get one right? Oh, you're telling me that just saving $40 a month on diapers and not gagging at the changing table is my prize? Ok, I'll take it!

Yea! For Cecily!- and more so for you and Ryan! It's not an easy task- Collin is SO far from being ready- he just recently realized there is such thing as a toilet! It will be so nice to have only one bum to change once the baby comes! Congrats!
