Deal...or No deal???

So, I thought I'd share an exciting moment for Ryan and I. I don't know who of you heard about the Deal or No Deal open casting call auditions that were held in Salt Lake, but me and Ryan were stoked when we heard about it because we LOVE the show! Ok, let me paint this scenario for you. So we showed up to RC Willey at 10:15am-people a been line up in th night before--the line was at least a mile long. We brought Cecily with us, and I was sick--sore throat, swollen glands, aches and weird stomach pains. And, my sister came with us with her 3-year old and 10-month old. We stood in this line for 8 hours people!!!! In the sun, we all got sunburned. I don't knwo what possessed me to stay, but I must have been inspired because me, Ryan, and my sister Amelia got through the first round. It's pretty brutal. They had ten people at a time stand around a table and the casting person said 'go'. Then each person had literally 20 seconds to "sell" his or herself. I can understand why they only allow that long since they saw 17,000 people in one day, but it's really short! You don't believe me, try to summarize yourself in in 20 seconds--it's really hard. But four of us made it through to the second round where we did the exact same thing at a new table with a new person, only this time we had 15 seconds. This time she cut six more people, and Ryan and I were still in the running. The lady loved Ryan. He shared his most embarrasing moment which really caught her attention, and made everyone laugh. Then she asked which of us we preferred to be the contestant, and we picked Ryan, and then she sent us through to the next round! We had to go to a video-taped audition on Tuesday. Ryan brought all his supporters, and after they interviewed him by himself they brought us in and we did a little mock game--really short with only about 6 cases. Super fun, but now we just have to wait for a call to tell us we'll be on the show. It could be anywhere from 2 months to 2 years from now. And we could never get a call. Even though they only picked 100 people from 17,000 for the last audition, it's still a total long shot that we will actually make it, but it was fun to say we got that close!! So there's our little bit of excitement! See, it pays off to tivo lots of TV shows, right!?!

If you know anyone that is looking for a teacher in this area, you can give them my info. I actually created a blog for my studio, it's kathrynspiano.blogspot.com. That has my bio and my contact information for those that are interested. I only have room for a couple more but I wanted to start in May. Thanks a lot!

Cecily's 1st Birthday!!!!

Cecily turned one last friday, April 4th! I can't believe it's been a whole year since she was born. Time seems to go by faster and faster. We had a fun little birthday party with my family and Ryan's family with Dinner, cake and presents. She was not a happy camper through a lot of it. When nap times get messed up we definitely hear about it!!! My favorite picture perfectly depicts the song "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!" But she was happy when we put a big pile of fat and sugar in front of her (AKA birthday cake). Isn't it amazing what a power sweets have at making us feel better? I don't think we ever grow out of that....
She was a very polite little thing as she ate her cake, just one little finger at a time! I don't know where she learned her manners.....
And I had to include this hilarious picture of little Brightie who put an entire ping pong ball in her mouth! How does that taste??
Remodeling
Well, as you can see, I've learned how to make my blog more esthetically pleasing! Thanks to some extremely thorough instructions at sjhblogdesign.blogspot.com, and the beautiful designs of shabbyprincess.com! Now I need to keep up on the pictures and the posts! I must say this blogging thing is getting pretty fun, I have already heard from some people I haven't talked to for a while! Technology can be pretty amazing!

Easter Bunny
It was so fun to celebrate easter with Cecily! Holidays really come to life with kids. Even though she is still little, she had a fun time finding her easter basket in the morning and then going on an egg hunt with her cousins that afternoon. She put all her findings in her little bag all by herself! (wow, you can tell this is my first child for something like that to be so cute!!)

Wicked!

We just took the funnest trip to sunny California!!! Ryan's Valentine's gift to me was getting tickets to see the broadway show Wicked in L.A. So we decided to spend a few more days there. We got to go to the beach, which was by far Cecily's favorite thing. She LOVED digging in the sand and even crawled straight into the water. I think it shocked her a bit, it's definitely not a Hawaii beach, but she didn't cry, she just wiped the water off her face and kept playing. We also went to Knott's Berry farm. Hey, it's not Disneyland but it's a whole lot better than Lagoon!!! Ryan and I took turns riding the rollercoasters, and it worked out great because no one was there! We walked straight up to the ride And Cecily went on some of her first rides. She seemed pretty uninterested, it was nothing compared to the beach apparently. The last day there we got to go on The Price is Right!!! I have always wanted to be on the show! My friend that lives there got group tickets for a friend of hers turning 30. We all had bright pink shirts, and thought for sure one of us would be a contestant, but no luck. And we had to wait from about 11am until it filmed at 4pm. It was pretty overrated, but I'm glad I got it out of my system. The Highlight of the trip was definitely seeing Wicked. What an incredible production! When it comes to SLC we are going again! We've been listening to the music and now it's stuck in my head all the time! It was a fun time, but...there's no place like home........
